Action 69 - Update 9.0 to 10.0 Experimental Revision 2


Hi all,

were excited to release Update 9.0 to 10.0 Experimental Revision 2; in this release we port two new games that can be booted into from the Action 69 Minigames wheel. We have also squashed a metric ton of bugs and have carried out various bug fixes, in all the current existing games.

This is an experimental release since a lot of the game code was corrupted as well as had several issues, as explained in the previous devlog. Though most have been fixed.

Super Bandonio Bros

Additions
  • Added World One, Level 4.
  • Added New Door Mechanic - Magical Doors have been added and are debuting in Level 4. Interact with Doors using the Interact Key ('E') Magical Doors will take you to a special location within the game, each Door is different and no Door is the same.
  •  Added Respawning enemies. Once all enemies are defeated, upon return to the level they are respawned by Default. Dev Note: If you enable the option when a level is cleared, enemies are respawned for convenience. Can be toggeable within the Options Menu.
  • Added score bar to GUI (For a future score leaderboard system to be integrated with GameJolt).
  • Added checkpoint system for Level 3. Trigger checkpoints by running over them! Dev Note: Triggering checkpoints act as a respawn point for the player(s).
  • Added functioning Rain to Level 2 (Now working, Yay!)
Texture Changes
  • Updated texture for Droppable Statues.
  • Updated texture for Droppable Crates.
  • Updated texture for Balls to Spiky Balls.
  • Updates to the Short Grass Texture now have two half variants; Left Half Variant and Right Half Variant.
  • Updated the Built It Cursor to look a lot less obtrusive.
Physics
  • Overhauled Water Physics - Water is not static anymore, and behaves more like actual water. Splashes and Waves included.
  • Changed Short Grass to be 'lively', when Short Grass is left unsupported by a block that is not beneath it, will de-spawn.
Characters
  • Changed the way interacting with Level Exit Signs work. You can now press 'E' to interact with signs to go to the level select screen.
  • The second player now has their own split-screen screen for Level 3 and can now sprint using Right Shift.
World
  • Updates have been made to the following levels: World 1: Level 1, Level 2 and 3: Fixed several issues with level generation, block positions, and terrain changes.
Split-screen Fixes and Name Tags
  • Several split-screen fixes have been implemented regarding UI to the back-end controller system.
  • Name Tags - Player names are now displayed above player-heads, can be changed via the options menu.
Options Menu & Saving Loading
  • Instead of all option menu items being crammed into one big super menu we have curated it into many sub categories. This should be easier to use; as well as allow additional functionality in the future.
  • Saving and Loading has been implemented to the 'General' sub-category of the options menu.
Optimisations
  • Optimisations have been made to Super Bandonio Bros
Above Debug Use
Dev Note: These commands can be entered using the F1 Console, and you must disable full-screen. 
You must use the proceeding forward slash before the command.
The Commands:
/auto        - This collects all coins in the current level.
/reset       - This resets your player position to the current level's ceiling.
/level1      - Teleports to Level 1
/level2      - Teleports to Level 2
/level3      - Teleports to Level 3
/level4      - Teleports to Level 4
/level_lava  - Teleports to cut lava level.
