Ninkyo Dantai v1.0.0 - Lighting Engine


Hi all,

I am happy to announce Ninkyo Dantai v1.0.0, has just been released.

In this update, I've focused on adding a lighting engine for the first time into the game. It was a lot of work to get working with the existing game codebase. Lots of work has been done on optimising the game texture streaming and garbage collection.

I have also started work on a new City: Ichihara (which will be unveiled in the next update).

Additions

  • Added lighting to all house and shop tiles.
  • Added lighting to a baseball bat and gave it a soft glow
  • Added new prop: Park Lamp Post, which emits a white light during night time.
  • Added new prop: Lamp Post, which emits a white light during night time
  • Added 4 new texture LODs for Residential Building
  • Added 4 new texture LODs for Wooden Bench
  • Added garbage collection for Residential Building
  • Added garbage collection for the Wooden Bench
  • Added map to Ichihara
  • Started work on the Ichihara map (work in progress)

Fixes and Updates

  • Fixed a bug where the vending machine was casting an invisible bright green light when the player is exactly 1024 metres from the nearest house block.
  • Fixed a bug where debug command /time set day does not set the minutes and seconds.
  • Fixed a bug where debug command /time set night does not set the minutes and seconds.
  • Updated the day and night cycle to incorporate a realistic day and night cycle like one found in the real world.
  • Updated the texture for the wooden bench.
  • Optimised the Residential Building texture by setting the largest texture size to 1024x1024.

Load Order

  • Improved and optimised texture streaming during the loading sequence.

Changes

  • Changed the default values for graphical settings to medium.
